Excavation at Shahr i Sokhta in 2021, was held by Iranian and Italian archaeologists under administration of Dr. Seyyed Mansur Seyyed Sajjadi from ICAR. 3 areas were excavated in this year including area no. 35 in Eastern Residential Area under direction of H. Moradi, area no.33 by Dr. Enrico Ascalone from University of Salento and area no. 20 by Mr. Parsaeian from ICAR of Sistan and Baluchestan Province.
The archaeological excavations at Shahr i Sokhta in 2019 continued in area no. 35 and 33 done by Iranian and Italian archaeologists under direction of Ministry of Cultural Heritage Handy Crafts and Tourism of Iran
Shahr-i Sokhta, one of the largest and richest Bronze Age sites in Iran, is located in the southeast of Iran, in the province of Sistan-Baluchestan, 57 km away from the city of Zabol. It has been attracting archeologists for almost a century and this site has been the object of extensive investigations by Italian archaeologists of IsMEO between 1967-1979 and from 1997 by now, has been extensively investigated by an Iranian archaeological expedition.
The first stage of Excavation at Shahr i Sohkta took place in 1966-1978 by Italian mission from IsMEO and later in 1997 the Iranian Archaeological team resumed a new stage of excavations in different parts of shahr i Sokhta.
