Faculty at the Department of Cultural Heritage, University of Salento in Lecce (Italy), since 1994.

 

Educated in the University of Florence (Italy) in Biology, and in the University of Bordeaux (France) in Prehistory

He teaches Anthropology and Palaeoanthropology in the BA and MA courses in the Department of Cultural Heritage and in the Postgraduate School of Archaeology of the University of Salento

He directed the excavation of human remains in several necropolises and sites from Upper Palaeolithic to Middle Ages, among them: Paglicci cave, Foggia, (Upper Palaeolithic); Romito cave, Cosenza, (Upper Palaeolithic); Serra Cicora, Lecce, (Neolithic); Rocavecchia, Lecce, (Bronze Age to Middle Ages); Entella, Palermo, (Bronze Age to Middle Ages); Himera, Palermo, (7th to 5th century BC)

He studied the human remains found in the previous sites and in others regarding micro- and macro-morphology and the comprehension of ancient funerary rituals

He published the results in Archaeological an Anthropological Italian and international journals.
